Guy Zuber is currently the Director of the Institute of Biotechnology and Cell Signaling. He has extensive experience in biological and supramolecular chemistry applied for the intracellular delivery of macromolecules and nucleic acids into living cells. He contributed pioneering development on synthetic virus-like particles. Today, his team is developing antibody derivatives and gold nanoparticles of around 2 nm for use in living cells and application in cryo-EM.

Kimberly Meechan

Social-ARCC.jpg

Kimberly is a research software engineer working at UCL ARC.  Her research background is mainly focused on image analysis of microscopy images e.g. volume electron microscopy and X-ray CT. For her PhD at EMBL Heidelberg, she developed open-source software to target specific regions for volume EM and share/explore very large image datasets stored remotely. Later, Kimberly moved to a postdoc position at the British Museum where she focused on combining X-ray CT and 3D scans of objects in their collections.

Martina earned her PhD in Biology from the Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology, focusing on fluorescent biosensors from 2007 to  2011. Following this, she pursued a postdoctoral position at EMBL Heidelberg from 2014 to 2016, where she specialized in in-resin CLEM applied to pancreatic beta cells.  In 2017, Martina joined the Nanoscale Hub for the SyNergy Excellence Cluster in Munich as a staff scientist and became a group leader in 2019. Since, her group is contributing significantly to cutting-edge research in the field of neurobiology.

Geoff Perumal

Cormorant Garamond is a classic font with a modern twist. It's easy to read on screens of every shape and size, and perfect for long blocks of text.Geoff serves as the North American SEM and DualBeam Specialist for Thermo Fisher, supporting the Life Sciences. He’s well acquainted, and up to date, with both room temperature and cryo applications for SEM and DualBeam, having worked in industry for 8 years supporting this group. Prior to joining industry, Geoff worked in the dual LM and EM Core Facility at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, specializing in EM sample prep, ultramicrotomy, and EM operation. He also developed many room temp and cryo CLEM protocols during his time at Einstein. Geoff is always glad to speak about the system capabilities of our SEMs, and/or get into the weeds with you on optimizing sample preparation to help you generate the highest quality results!

Pedro Machado started as an electron microscopist in life sciences in 2008, as a research technician at Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia, Portugal. He has worked as core facility staff at EMBL Heidelberg and King's College London, with experience focused on correlative/multimodal and volume electron microscopy workflows. Pedro has joined Oxford Instruments in 2022 as Product Manager for Life Science and Correlative.

Dr Joshua Lea graduated with an MChem in Chemistry and Nanotechnology from the University of Hull in 2017. He then embarked on a PhD in Chemistry at Lancaster University which focused on the design of rhenium-functionalised surfaces for Raman sensing. He joined Oxford Instruments WITec as a Product Scientist in 2022 after a Postdoctoral Research position at Lancaster University which specialised in the educating people on and applying Raman Spectroscopy, developing his passion and enthusiasm for this technique.
